Standard template to express my frustration with Christians in general:
Different theological traditions interpret [insert bible passage here] differently.
We are not skilled in Greek / Hebrew, etc., and cannot judge the legitimacy of the various theological tradition’s explanation.
Hence, intellectual honesty demands that we do not hastily choose any one religious tradition’s explanation as the true version.
Commonsense reading of the bible is far from conclusive as to whether [insert doctrine here] is true, due to the many different ways to interpret the verses.
I prefer not to perpetuate claims whose veracity I have no way of ascertaining.
Too many Christians are overzealous in perpetuating the claims of their preferred theological traditions without having a sound understanding of their veracity.
Finally, if the truth were so simple that [insert doctrine here] could adequately qualify as truth, why did the bible not express it this way?
